National accounting firm CohnReznick LLP recently participated in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Santa Monica 5K on Saturday, October 25, 2014, in honor of the Firm’s Chief of Staff, Risa Lavine, and all women in the CohnReznick family who are courageously battling this disease. CohnReznick was the top team contributor and the sixth national Making Strides contributor, raising over $70,000.
A total of 107 teams and 923 participants, including 50 individuals on Team CohnReznick, raised over a $154,000 for the Santa Monica walk. The event was an opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about what we can do to reduce our breast cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with breast cancer research, information and services, and access to mammograms for women in need.
Carolee Mancuso, manager in CohnReznick’s Los Angeles office, championed the Firm’s participation and played a significant role in driving fundraising. Her efforts were honored at the event where she was invited on stage and presented with a certificate of appreciation from the American Cancer Society.
Carolee said, “This started with a thought that the CohnReznick group turned in to a reality. We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for this very important cause. I am proud to be a part of a Firm that is dedicated to giving back.”
In response to CohnReznick’s efforts on her behalf, Risa Lavine said, “Giving back is at the heart of my being – something like this is all about paying it forward and making the world a better place for the next 250,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the year ahead.”
As an accounting firm, CohnReznick supported the local efforts by donating $25,000, matching donations made to the team. In addition, employees from throughout the Firm supported the cause by participating in walks though out the country.
